Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Community Behavioral Services, Inc. offers short-term, intensive psychotherapy for people experiencing acute symptoms of mental illness. This program is conducted 3 days each week for 3 hours per day during which individual and group therapy is provided. Most participants achieve maximum improvement within 4 to 5 weeks and then step down to less intensive outpatient services. The purpose of IOP is to offer an alternative to hospitalization as well as providing a community-based program for post hospitalization recovery.

The IOP is staffed by licensed mental health professionals as well as a Maryland Board Certified psychiatrist, Robert Schnitzlein, MD. Each client is assessed upon admission and a treatment plan is immediately put into place.

Community Behavioral Services, Inc. is licensed by the Maryland State Mental Hygiene Administration to provide clinic services. CBS is an approved provider of IOP services in the Maryland Medicaid program. Two locations are presently available:
